Financial Assistance for Maryland Students

We know that affordability is an important part of your college decision. When you apply for all the state, federal, and other funds available to you, it gives you more options. We want you to attend college and leave with the least amount of debt possible.

Here are some of the Maryland financial aid programs that may be available in addition to other federal, institutional, and private sources of aid.

In most cases, students do not need to make a separate application other than making sure they submit a FAFSA by no later than March 1st every year.

  1. . The Guaranteed Access (GA) Grant is a need-based grant that provides financial assistance to eligible applicants enrolled at postsecondary institutions. Award amounts for 2025-2026 are up to $18,000 towards a student's calculated financial need.
  2.  ¶¶êŽÉñÆ÷ and other independent Maryland colleges and universities are part of a partnership with the state. ¶¶êŽÉñÆ÷provides a matching award for eligible students who receive a GA grant for four years of college.
